Georgia officers buy groceries for teen caught shoplifting

ROME, Ga. — Police officers who caught a teenager shoplifting did an unexpected thing.

Lt. Walters and Officer Brunson with the Rome Police Department caught a 14-year-old shoplifting candy from a local business, according to their Facebook page.

Police said he gave the candy back, but that they wanted to do something for him.

The two officers found out he didn't have any food in his house when they took him home.

So, they decided to take him to get groceries and spent more than $50 getting him enough groceries to last a week.
