Georgia man dies after deputies shock him with Taser

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — The GBI is investigating the death of a man who was shocked with a Taser.

Authorities say Washington County sheriff's deputies responded to a suspicious person call in the town of Deep Step.

Deputies responded and made contact with Euria Lee Martin, 58, of Milledgeville.

According to the GBI, there was an altercation between Martin and deputies.

Deputies shocked Martin with a Taser. He was arrested and put in handcuffs.

Authorities said shortly after the altercation, Martin appeared to be in respiratory distress. EMS provided medical attention, but Martin died at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed at the GBI crime lab in Decatur.

The GBI will conduct an independet investigation to determine what occured during the incident.
