Georgia community comes together to support 4-year-old battling cancer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga — A Georgia community is coming together for a little girl battling a rare form of brain cancer.

At just 4 years old, Tinleigh Culver has received dozens of rounds of aggressive radiation treatments in her fight, but she remains full of life and energy.

The Fayetteville native knows she has cancer but is probably too young to understand. But her mom knows it's serious.

"It's the most surreal and devastating experience of your life,” said Holly Culver.

The family is in Jacksonville, Florida, where the preschooler is receiving radiation treatments five days a week.

She's fighting through it but her family is dealing with mounting medical bills. Back at home, the community is trying to help with a special fundraiser.

"It's really heartwarming to know that you have so many people who hear a story and they're in contact with you saying what can I do to help," said benefit organizer Carrie Gibby.

"It's community support, shows the family there are people out there praying for your child and wanting to help," said family friend Leah Olive.

Tinleigh's family is praying the radiation works but they don't know what will happen long-term. For now, they're just trying to stay strong.

"My faith and family and friends, they hold us up. Tinleigh holds me up. She's happy, that's all that any parent hopes for is that their child's going to be happy," Culver said.

Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville will hold a community yard sale to help pay for the medical bills Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also donate to the Tinleigh Blue Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank branch.

If all goes well, Tinleigh and her family are planning to drive up from Jacksonville for the fundraiser.
