Georgia Boy Choir sings tribute to Conn. victims

ATLANTA — An emotional tribute to the victims of the Connecticut school shooting was held Saturday at the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Buckhead. The Georgia Boy Choir sang a special song dedicated to those affected by the tragedy.

Many of the boys who sang inside this church are the same ages as the children killed in the tragedy. People in attendance told Channel 2 Action News' Ashley Swann that it was a beautiful and fitting tribute.
After a number of celebratory holiday songs, the Georgia Boy Choir stood silent for a moment at their Christmas concert to honor the victims. Then came a special song, "Dona Nobis Pacem," or "Lord, Grant Us Peace," a tribute to the 27 lives lost, so many of them around the same age as the boys in the choir.

Artistic director and conductor David White said he felt it was important to remember the victims and address what we're all feeling during what should be a happy time of year.

"Hopefully as people listen to this it will give them a since of consolation and hope," White told Swann.

Attendees called it a touching and appropriate tribute.

"To hear their families hear the voices of our children sing out to them to their children ... it was very touching," said Bethany Anderson.

Kelle Ortiz added, "It was really hard to hold it together, and I think it was nice for the whole audience to hear something so beautiful. It was soothing to our hearts."
