ATLANTA - Campus police at Georgia Tech are warning students to be aware of their surroundings after two students were robbed at gunpoint.
Police said two students walking in the area of 6th and Fowler streets around 2 a.m. Monday were confronted by two thieves.
One of the robbers had a gun and demanded the students’ belongings, police said.
“Really scary, cause right in the middle of campus, I expect it to be on the outside perimeter, but this one was inside,” Georgia Tech student Kristen Palmares said.
The description of the robbers is similar to two suspects from a robbery four blocks north of campus a few days prior. The victim was not a student.
Georgia Tech saw a spike of similar robberies on campus during the spring semester. Students who spoke to Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach said they will no longer go out late at night and they’ll always walk with others.
