Family desperately searches for East Point man who ‘vanished'

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point police found out Sunday that in addition to a MARTA station and a recording studio, one of the last places Michael Edwards was seen before disappearing more than a month ago was a gas station parking lot at MLK Drive and I-20 where he was passing out CDs.

“It's been a month now, and we don't have any information. We don't know what's going on, what happened to him,” a cousin, Belita Gray-Fonville, said.

Five weeks after Michael Edwards' disappearance, the search continues.

"We try to remain faithful. It's hard," Darrell Edwards said.

Michael Edwards' family, alongside East Point police, were on foot Sunday asking for the public's help in finding the 33-year-old who was last seen at a MARTA station and recording studio near MLK Drive.

"This is not his behavior to just go and walk away," Gray-Fonville said.

Police say a new lead came in Sunday morning that Edwards, who is also known as "Luck," had been in a Shell gas station parking lot near I-20 and MLK in the days, even hours, leading up to  his disappearance.

"He was an aspiring musician and he was passing out some of his CDs," East Point police Maj. Russell Popham said.

"We hope for the best and just like any family, we're worried," Darrell Edwards said.

That small clue and Michael Edwards' lively personality is enough motivation for this family to keep pushing for answers.

"That's what I keep holding onto him smiling and laughing," Gray-Fonville said.

"We hope you're safe, and may God be with us all," Darrell Edwards said.

"Time is essential here so we're just trying to see if we can get the community to just point us in the right direction," Popham said
