Woman gives birth on side of Ga. 400

Baby Mia Johnson

FORSYTH, Ga. — One little baby made her grand entrance into this world a lot sooner than her parents were expecting.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says it received a call Tuesday morning about a woman in labor on the side of Georgia 400 in Cumming. The couple was headed to the hospital when it became clear they wouldn't make it.

Dispatchers helped talk dad through the birthing process.

Deputy Matt Pittman, who was nearby, responded to the scene and arrived just before the child was born. He helped the father finish the birth and then helped wrap the child in the fathers T-shirt while waiting for EMS to arrive.

Mom and baby, named Mia Johnson, are doing well. They are resting at Northside Hospital-Forsyth.
