Man shot, killed by deputies inside his Forsyth County home

The GBI is investigating a deadly deputy-involved shooting at a house in Cumming.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The GBI is at the scene of a deadly deputy-involved shooting.

Investigators say a man showed a gun and a deputy shot and killed him.

It started late Tuesday when a woman called 911 from a house on Carbonne Court in Cumming and then hung up.

“Our dispatcher called the home telephone number back. This was now a domestic dispute,” Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Doug Rainwater said.

Three deputies showed up at the house.

Once they were in the house, near the kitchen, as the deputies were talking to the woman, a man who they later realized was her husband, came downstairs with a gun.

That was when one of the deputies feared for his life.

“One of our deputies took defensive action and shot and killed the husband,” Rainwater said.

No else was hurt.

The Forsyth County sheriff called in the GBI to investigate the events that led up to the shooting.

Overnight, agents interviewed the wife and deputy who fired the fatal shot, and said he is on desk duty until the investigation is over.
