Gracemont Assisted Living-Memory Care fails health inspection

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — An alzheimers and dementia assisted living center in Forsyth County had health violations in the kitchen that led the center receiving to a failing score.

Gracemont Assisted Living-Memory Care on Jot Em Down Road in Cumming got a health inspection score of 63 on September 19. It advertises itself as emphasizing safety and engagement.

The Forsyth County health inspector noted finding strawberries with a mold-like substance, raw meat stored above ready-to-eat food and food debris accumulation on dishes and the ice machine.

Channel 2's Carol Sbarge checked on the previous health score. They got a 94 one year ago.
 
When Sbarge went to the Gracemont Assisted Living Memory Care, no one was able to do an on-camera interview.

In an e-mail statement, Gracemont Assisted Living wrote: 

"While Gracemont recently received a deficiency free survey from the Georgia Department of Community Health, we take the unsatisfactory Forsyth County Health Department score seriously. We have swiftly addressed the concerns presented in the recent county score and are dedicated to ensuring these points are acknowledged and corrected."
 
Gracemont Assisted Living says it remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the maximum level of care for its residents. The center will be re-inspected this month, and we'll let you know what the new score is.
