Alpharetta mother arrested on rape charges

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A mother from Alpharetta turned herself into the Forsyth County Jail Thursday on charges of enticing a child for indecent purpose, aggravated child molestation and statutory rape.

Channel 2 Action News was there as Kathy Tompa walked into jail hand-in-hand with her husband, and with her attorney, AJ Richman, by their side.

“My client has a family and they are devastated by these allegations," said Richman.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, declined to release details. Deputies told Channel 2's Audrey Washington they could not comment on sex crimes involving a minor.

Richman said Tompa surrendered to authorities immediately after the warrants were served.

“She’s disappointed, but she’s keeping her head high and she knows that justice will prevail,” Richman said.

He said Tompa plans to plead not guilty. Her first court appearance is set for Friday morning.
