Former inmates sue Cobb County sheriff for $15 million

Channel 2 Action News has learned the Cobb County sheriff is facing a multimillion dollar federal lawsuit stemming from a sex scandal inside his jail.

Two jail supervisors are currently serving prison time after they admitted to having sex with female inmates.

In October 2013, a judge sentenced former Cobb County Sgt. Alvin Sutherland to 40 years, with 20 to be served in prison.

In September 2013, a judge sentenced Sgt. Kristopher Travitz to five years in prison and another 10 years on probation.

Five former Cobb County inmates are suing the county, Sheriff Neil Warren and two former deputies.  They're seeking $3 million each.
