Fire forces evacuation at Gwinnett church

TUCKER, Ga. — A small fire forced a Tucker congregation to evacuate their sanctuary Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 12:15 p.m. at the Korean First Presbyterian Church on Lawrenceville Highway.

Gwinnett firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the worship hall building on the campus. They quickly extinguished the small fire, which was contained to a storage area in the corner of the worship hall.

Crews ventilated the structure of smoke and harmful gases. Church attendees were allowed to enter the sanctuary to continue church service. There were no reports of injuries and minimal structural damage.

A Gwinnett arson investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
