Fire destroys south Fulton warehouse

ATLANTA,None — The fire happened after business hours at the Tie Down Engineering warehouse on Selig Drive. The company makes trailer parts for marine products and trailers to haul boats. Channel 2 Action News was at the scene around 9 p.m. as Fulton County firefighters fought flames shooting from the roof.

Firefighters said there were metal tanks filled with gas inside the warehouse. Fulton Fire Chief Larry Few said welding equipment, oxygen and gas tanks posed the greatest danger.

“Under that much pressure, it’s just like a missile flying through the air. We had to pull back for our own safety,” he said.

The company has been in business for 20 years. The damage from the fire is extensive, and the owner’s loss is in the thousands.

“The building itself is a total loss,” Few said.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. No one was hurt.
