Father of 6 carjacked, shot, killed in Atlanta

ATLANTA — Investigators said a local man has died after someone pulled him from his SUV, beat him and then stole the vehicle, just feet away from his home.

It was a Friday night and Isreal Nagoros planned to stay in with his family and watch a soccer game.

But around 9:30 p.m. he stepped out to grab snacks for the kids.

"And he's never coming back," wife Luz Reyes told Channel 2’s Carl Willis. %

That's because on his way home, the father of six was stopped by carjackers on his street. Witnesses said he was pulled from his GMC Envoy. That’s when three males kicked and beat him, and a fourth shot him twice in the back and two more times in the stomach.

It appears they were just after his SUV.

"And five dollars," Reyes said.

“That's all he had on him?” Willis asked.

"Yes," Reyes said.

The robbers damaged and ditched the SUV and racked up charges on the family's credit card.

No one has been arrested.

Nagoros struggled to get to a neighbor's home to ask for help, but after 16 days of fighting for his life at the hospital, the 34-year-old died from his injuries Saturday.

"We've never done anything wrong in this country," Reyes told Willis. "We work so hard. We have six kids."

Now, the family is broken and in financial ruin. Reyes said they may even have to move.

Reyes told Willis they need to find the money to send their patriarch's body to Mexico.

"It's not fair for my kids. It's not," Reyes said.
