3-year-old found wandering street; father charged

ATLANTA — Atlanta police handcuffed a man in his pajamas and led him to jail for allegedly allowing his 3-year-old girl to wander the street alone.

Channel 2's Ryan Young was the only reporter at the Fulton County Jail as police brought in Roderick Bailey. Bailey refused to answer any of Young's questions.

Police say Bailey left his daughter alone inside their Legacy Drive home on Tuesday morning and the child wandered out of the apartment and onto Joseph E Lowery Boulevard.

Sgt. Greg Lyon said Bailey told officer he went up the street to a gas station.

"A woman saw the toddler in the street crying and she was trying to flag down cars," Lyon said. "She stopped, collected the child and called 911."

Bailey faces several charges. The child has been returned to her mother.
