Family, friends remember slain Griffin girl

Investigators said there is no sign of trauma to the body of a 9-year-old Griffin girl found dead after being reported missing Friday evening.

GRIFFIN, Ga. - Visitation for a slain Griffin girl will be held Wednesday evening.

Nine-year-old Skylar Dials was found dead behind her Griffin home Saturday morning after going missing Friday evening.

Skylar’s visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Haisten McCullough Funeral Home in Griffin.

Over the weekend, police arrested 40-year-old Shane Collett and charged him with murdering Skylar. Neighbors said Collett was the live-in boyfriend at Skylar’s friend’s house next door.

Skylar’s funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Griffin Center Point Church.
