Cops: Man sent threatening emails to ex-wife before murder

MARIETTA, Ga. — Cobb County police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found inside her Marietta home unresponsive with serious injuries on Saturday.

The victim, identified as 48-year-old Donna Nations Kristofak, of 3960 Tall Pine Drive, was transported to Wellstar Kennesaw Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Cobb County detectives have secured an arrest warrant for her ex-husband, 58-year-old John Stephen Kristofak. He is charged with aggravated assault and murder.

On Monday, Channel 2 Action News found court records that reveal Kristofak sent his ex-wife a series of disturbing emails in March.

One read, "I warned you never to cut me off from my children -you did and you will pay.  I am not living past tonight so I will do anything to get you back."

Another, written the same day said, "Have you ever been hit by a car going 140, not knowing where it is coming from?"

The paperwork showed Kristofak's ex-wife had a permanent restraining order against him, stating Kristofak should never come within 500 feet of his ex-wife.

Neighbors said the couple had two school-aged children.

John Kristofak was last seen driving a brown Chevrolet Equinox bearing Georgia license plate BUV 2635.  He is not in custody at this time and is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 770-499-3945. Anyone who sees Kristofak is urged to call 911.
