Emergency crews search Lake Lanier for missing male

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators tell Channel 2 Action News two females are safe, but they are still searching Lake Lanier for one male who disappeared after a party Monday night.

The Forsyth County Fire Department said that sheriff's deputies were called to the party at Two Mile Creek Park. When investigators arrived, a group of more than 20 young people ran from the park, and now one male at the party is unaccounted for.

Investigators confirm alcohol was served at the party. Police said the group ranged from teens to people in their early 20s.

Several emergency agencies including the Forsyth County Fire Department, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Natural Resources are now searching Lake Lanier for the male.

Officials said they do not know for sure if the male is in the water or if he sought refuge elsewhere. They stress that anyone with information needs to come forward.

"I want to stress that our concern at this point are not criminal charges," Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said. "In fact, at no point have criminal charges been filed against anyone involved in the party."
