Dreamland BBQ fire deemed accidental

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County fire investigators have determined that a popular barbecue restaurant caught fire accidentally earlier this month.

The fire broke out Jan. 16 at Dreamland BBQ on Peachtree Parkway. Gwinnett County firefighters said the building is a total loss.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by a neon sign transformer sitting in the attic. The transformer was left there by previous tenants, according to the Gwinnett County Fire Department. Officials said it caused an "electric arcing condition," and ignited the building.

A manager who smelled smoke called 911 and evacuated the building. There were no injuries reported.
