State office building evacuated over bomb threat

ATLANTA — A state office building in downtown Atlanta was evacuated over a bomb threat Friday morning.

News Chopper 2 flew over the 2 Peachtree building at Peachtree and Marietta streets, where Georgia State Patrol troopers and Georgia Tech police were at the scene. The threat was reported sometime before 11:35 a.m.

The building houses offices for the Georgia Department of Human Services and the Professional Standards Commission, among others. Employees received a Capitol Hill alert advising them not to use radios or cellphones to communicate.

"Proceed calmly to an outdoor location and move at least 300 feet away from the building. DO NOT RETURN until the Department of Public Safety gives an all clear," the alert said.

No roads involved have been closed.
