Police: Man shot himself after killing girlfriend

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A neighborhood was on lockdown overnight as police searched for an accused killer.

Police captured the man they say shot and killed his girlfriend, in front of her children, before turning the gun on himself on Hunters Ridge Drive in Douglasville.

Neighbors helped police track down the suspect several blocks away in another subdivision, but the victim died across the street in her driveway.

Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital where he remained in critical condition.

Investigators have not released the victim's name or a motive behind the shooting.
