Donations pour in for 7-year-old rescued from well

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A community fundraiser was held Sunday afternoon for a little girl on the road to recovery after falling into a 50-foot well.

Megan Winters and her family were beaming during the weekend event that brought dozens to Frank's Restaurant off I-85 in Palmetto.

The 7-year-old girl fell into and was rescued from the bottom of a 50-foot well in Carroll County. Her skull and the bones around her eye were fractured, along with one arm and both legs.

She spent more than three weeks in a hospital and needed several operations. But she’s now back in school and doing physical therapy.

Megan’s father said the family has insurance, but it doesn't cover everything they'll need for her going forward.
