COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A Cobb County man is in police custody after being holed up in his home for several hours.
The incident escalated into a SWAT situation at the home on Spring Mountain Lane early Wednesday morning.
Police said the incident started as a domestic dispute at the home earlier in the morning. Investigators told Channel 2’s Erica Byfield a neighbor called 911 after they said they saw a man beating a woman in the street.
"The SWAT team did make entry into the house, he was in the house they located him in an upstairs bedroom, or room," officer Michael Bowman said.
Police and EMS responded to the home and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital.
Investigators told Byfield a juvenile was also home at the time of the incident, but they got away and went to a neighbor’s house.
Police said the man refused to come out of the home after they arrived at the scene. The man was taken into custody just after 8 a.m.
Officers said the man will likely face charges of domestic violence.
