CUMMING, Ga. - The Department of Natural Resources says a woman who drowned in Lake Lanier over the weekend was trying to rescue a turtle from the water at her home.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Marines Dillon, lost her balance and fell into the water from the dock of her Hope Road home.
Her husband tried to rescue her, but neither knew how to swim. Dillon, 59, was pronounced dead at Northside Hospital.
