Detectives make arrest in stolen Eagle case

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — A Forsyth County man has been arrested and charged with theft by receiving in connection with the theft of an eagle sculpture from the Big Creek Greenway.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s investigators said Pedro Castro Garcia, 29, of Hwy. 9 North, Alpharetta, Ga. was charged Monday with theft by receiving stolen property.

Authorities arrested Garcia at his home before he was booked into the Forsyth County Detention Center.

The stolen statue was located Sept. 12 in a storage shed at Garcia’s residence, investigators said. They said the statue was in good condition and was returned to Forsyth County Parks and Recreation on Friday.

The eagle statue, made of bronze and other metals, was reported stolen from the Big Creek Greenway trailhead off of Bethelview Road in south Forsyth County on Aug. 28.
