Deputies: Men shot while trying to buy marijuana

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — Butts County deputies are investigating after two men were shot when they tried to kick in a homeowner's door on Wednesday afternoon.

News Chopper 2 flew over the scene on Higgins Road, off Highway 16 East, southeast of Jasper. The injured men allegedly went to the home to buy marijuana, deputies said.

A woman who was driving a car with three men told deputies the trio went to the back of the home and kicked in the door. The homeowner shot through the door.

One man was grazed on the head and the other was shot near the eye. The third man broke his leg while trying to run away from the scene.

Authorities have confirmed one of the men is a Jasper high school student. One is from Louisiana. All three of the men are in hospital care.

Deputies have not found any drugs but they’re trying to obtain a warrant to search through the home, which someone tried to break in last week.
