Delta reports another computer outage

ATLANTA — A computer outage has passengers at airports across the country grounded, including Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.

Delta said their IT department is working to “rectify the situation as soon as possible.”

Delta passengers could do nothing but stand in line and wait for answers as a system outage grounded departures nationwide.

"I am hoping I can get home because I need to report to work first thing tomorrow morning," one passenger told Channel 2's Matt Johnson.

An alert started broadcasting at Hartsfield-Jackson at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. It told Delta passengers there was a problem with the Delta system that would affect domestic departures.

Delta released a statement:

"Delta is expeditiously working to fix a systems outage that has resulted in departure delays for flights on the ground. Flights in the air remain unaffected. Delta apologizes to customers for the inconvenience and will provide updates as they become available on news.delta.com"

George Bryant was trying to get home to Flint, Michigan tonight but he's already making hotel plans.

"The flight don't look good so it looks like I'll juts wait until the morning," Bryant said.
Still he says this won't stop him from flying Delta.

“Delta is a good flight and a good airline so the computer system you can’t do nothing about it,” Bryant said.

It was in August when Delta suffered a massive outage that grounded the airline worldwide.

Thousands of canceled and long-delayed flights left passengers and flight crews stranded around the globe. At the time, an electrical system failure from a small fire caused a power outage at Delta's main operations center.
