Cellmate suspected in death of DeKalb jail inmate

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County Sheriff’s officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the DeKalb County Jail.

According to sheriff’s officials, Jah’Corey D. Tyson, 23, was pronounced dead at DeKalb Medical Center Saturday afternoon. They said he was taken there after sustaining injuries during an altercation with his cellmate, Donte Lamar Wyatt, 33.

The death resulted with charges against Wyatt, according to sheriff’s officials.

Details, including the cause of death, are being withheld pending a homicide investigation by the DeKalb Police Department.  The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office is also conducting an internal administrative review, as a matter of protocol, officials said.

Wyatt was arrested April 13, 2015 on a felony murder charge, sheriff’s officials said.

Tyson was jailed on May 28, 2015 on charges of battery- family violence and rape.
