DeKalb firefighters extinguish, apartment, brush fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Firefighters worked to put out flames that spread through a DeKalb County apartment building and surrounding brush Thursday night.

Cellphone video shows the flames shooting through the roof of building C in the Hidden Villas apartment complex on Panthersville Road.

"I saw flames shooting up to the sky," said Missashley Charleston. "There was a circle pattern of the trees, and the leaves that were on fire and there was also the building that was on fire."

Firefighters were not sure which caught fire first.

"They were breaking out windows, pulling down boards," said Charleston. "The building was completely boarded up. The trees the grass, everything was on fire."

DeKalb County fire officials confirm that building was unoccupied.
