Vigil held for young father killed outside laundromat he managed

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — More than 100 people gathered for a vigil for a father killed while confronting loiterers outside the laundromat he managed.

Carlos Lemons, 26, was killed Friday outside the Spin Cycle Coin Laundry on Columbia Drive at the Belvedere Plaza.

Police say three people armed with pistols were caught on camera from multiple angles and detectives are currently going through that security footage.

Lemons had just been promoted to overnight manager.

"This is a young man that established two jobs, a day job, and a job here at Spin as a manager," his boss said.

Family and friends held a candlelight vigil in front of the store where the young father was killed. His children spend the time fighting back tears.

The victim's family is confident they will find closure soon, as investigators go over surveillance video from the scene, which may help them identify suspects.

"Best thing they can do is say, 'Well I'm going to turn myself in' or let the law get you. One way or the other, it's going to happen," the victim's grandfather, Roderick Jones said.

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact DeKalb police if you have any information that can help.
