Grandfather finds teen shot to death in driveway

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are investigating the death of a high school student.

Keschon Kerns, 18, was missing from his bed Sunday morning when his grandfather went to wake him up for work.

Kerns' grandfather found his body in the driveway of their home on Harvest Hill Court sandwiched between a car and a lawnmower with three gunshots wounds: in his wrist, shoulder and back.

Neighbors and Kerns' grandfather recalled hearing gunshots the night before, but when the grandfather went outside, he didn't see anything.

“I don’t know why someone would murder my brother like this,” said the victim’s twin sister, Kiyanna Kerns.

She said she is having a hard time processing her brother’s death.

“I feel heartbroken. I feel like I have absolutely hit rock bottom,” she said.

Keschon Kerns was a junior at Southwest DeKalb High School.
