Son arrested, dad sought in killing of laundromat worker

DEKALB COUNTY — Channel 2 Action News has learned police have arrested the suspected gunman in a shooting that left a laundromat worker dead. They have warrants out for the suspect's father, who police think helped commit the crime.

Channel 2's Liz Artz was the first to report that Kevin Clark Jr., 19, was arrested and that authorities are searching for his father, Kevin Clark Sr., 38.

Police believe Clark Jr. pulled the trigger in late April, killing 26-year-old Carlos Lemons during a robbery attempt. It happened at the laundromat off Memorial Drive.

Clark Jr. has been charged with murder. Detectives are searching for his father, Kevin Clark Sr., they have warrants out for his arrest and said the father/son duo was trying to rob Lemons.

Investigators gave Channel 2 Action News surveillance video from the night of the shooting and said there is third person involved, who they have identified and want to talk with him.

We’re working to learn about a third person authorities are searching for, on Channel 2 Action News starting at 5.

“It is very unusual to see that there is a father and son involved in this incident not something you see every day,” said DeKalb County police official Shiera Campbell

Police said they believe the father and son did not know Lemons, they believe he was randomly targeted.

Lemons' family said he worked two jobs to support his two children.
