West Nile virus strikes AGAIN in one Georgia county

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Health officials have confirmed a second case of the West Nile virus in DeKalb County.

Health officials say the patient is a 78-year-old man who lives between Chamblee and Tucker.
 
Doctors are now treating him at a local hospital.

So far, 30 mosquito pools from 14 locations throughout the county have tested positive for the virus.

DeKalb health officials told Channel 2 Action News they are working to minimize the rapidly growing mosquito population.

The county says technicians routinely trap mosquitoes and test them for West Nile.
 
Crews also spread larvicide in problem spots, including Brookhaven's 12 parks.
 
The county says its first human West Nile case this year was reported in Brookhaven.
