Police searching for man accused of sexually assaulting 5-year-old girl

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are looking for a man they say abducted and sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl.

Investigators said the girl was found wandering alone around 4:30 p.m. at the Value Mall on Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain.

The child told police she had been picked up by a man at the Clifton Glen Apartments and was later dropped off at Value Mall.

She was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out and that’s when police learned about the abuse.

While officers were out with the child, the police department got a call from the girl’s mother saying the child was missing. The girl’s 8-year-old brother called the mother to tell him his sister was missing.

Police went to the Clifton Glen Apartments to talk to neighbors and were able to come up with a description of the suspect.

The man is described as a light-skinned black man in his early 20s with long red hair tied into a ponytail. He also has a long beard.

He is believed to be in an early 2000s model gray Hyundai hatchback.
