Police search for killer in 'senseless' road rage shooting

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A man who was killed last week in a road rage incident in DeKalb County was laid to rest Thursday.

Gerald Tisdale, 52, was driving to see his children, ages 9 and 12, on March 30 when someone shot into his Jeep Cherokee on Highway 78.

He drove off the road and died from the gunshot wound.

Police said a black Nissan Altima was involved in the shooting. They believe that the car had up to four people in it when someone inside opened fire.

Police said the people in the other car were the aggressors when an argument on the road led to Tisdale's death.

“Right now detectives continue to go through information that we’ve gathered and we know it’s only a matter of time before we’re able to locate this vehicle and the shooter,” DeKalb police Maj. Stephen Fore said.

As Tisdale's family mourns his death, they, along with police, are asking for help in catching the killer who is still on the run a week later.

“Do the right thing. A family has been hurt. A father has been killed. Friends and neighbors, they’re all searching for answers and we need for those involved to turn themselves in as soon as possible,” Tisdale’s cousin, Gary Burke, said.

Police said everyone who was in the Altima could face murder charges if they don’t speak up before police find them.

“They have the opportunity to come forward, do the right thing and bring this family some closure and separate themselves from this crime. If they remain silent, they could be facing the same murder charges as the shooter in this case,” Fore said.
