Police: 1 killed in shooting over parking space

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that they say started as an argument over a parking space.

The shooting happened Monday night at a Chevron gas station on Flat Shoals Road in DeKalb County.

According to a store employee, the shooter was moving from a pump and trying to back into a parking space, when the disagreement over the spot began.

Police say 38-year-old Timothy Hill was taken to Grady Hospital where he died from his injuries.

“It’s really senseless at the end of the day. It’s something that could have been completely avoided,” Hill’s nephew, Ron Walker, said.

Family members say Hill was a father of three and was with his brother when he was shot.

“It’s a big loss for us because he was more of our extra strength. He was out extra push. He was a hard man, a stern man, but a very loving man at the same time,” Walker said.

Police say the shooter left the scene in a black sedan.

Employees say the shooting was caught on video.

Family members say they were told an arrest was made Monday night.
