Krystal is headquartered in metro Atlanta. A spokesperson says the company maintains some of the highest standards of restaurant cleanliness and operations, but on Sept. 13 the Brookhaven restaurant got a health inspection score of 64.

Last year, the same location got a failing score of 63.

The recent inspection was enough to cause potential customer Sylvester Holmon to go eat somewhere else. He told Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge that Krystal has some work to do to clean the restaurant up.

Violations included milk in the cooler dated Aug. 22 even though the inspection was done in September.

Other violations included no soap at the food prep area sink and cheese not stored cold enough, and the inspector observed a cooler on the prep line not clean to sight or touch.

A spokesperson for Krystal emailed a statement saying, “Our team immediately took action to correct the issue. We are reinforcing our appropriate practices with the restaurant and we are working diligently to prevent any similar incidents to ensure quality dining experience for our guests.”

After the Krystal failed last year, it got a re-inspection score of 88.

A DeKalb County health inspector will be back this month to re-inspect the restaurant. We will keep you updated on the new score.
