Deck collapse injures 4 in DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Four people are recovering Sunday morning after the second-floor patio of an apartment collapsed in DeKalb County.

It happened at The Landmark at Banyan Bay apartments on Meadowglen Village Lane.

DeKalb County firefighters tell Channel 2 Action News there was a party going on at the time.

Channel 2's Nicole Carr spoke with a man who says his wife suffered an injured ankle.

The injured tenant's husband says six people were out cooking out for his wife's birthday and says it was like the deck collapsed out of nowhere.

"That's not acceptable. Like, that's scary. That thought alone is scary. That's scary," neighbor Ty Towns said.

Three others had minor injuries.

The tenant tells Carr he'll have to wait to until business hours Monday to talk to the complex about getting the deck fixed.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the collapse.
