Crews search new trails, wooded areas for missing grandmother's remains

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police have resumed their search for a missing grandmother.

Millicent Williams, 78, hasn't been seen since authorities doing a welfare check last Thursday discovered a large amount of blood inside her home which she shared with her grandson, Gregory Williams.

He now faces murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault charges.

Police say Gregory Williams has not cooperated making their search for the elder Williams’ body challenging.

"We're just trying to get closure for the family. We haven't received a tip or anything specific, but we're just seeing if we can find Ms. Williams," DeKalb County police Sgt. Sabrena Dorsey.

Police are focused on areas near the home.

"It's difficult, because it's such a large area. If you think about DeKalb County, all of the parks, all of the walking trails, the bodies of water, there's so many different areas. That's what makes it difficult for us to try to find where he may have placed Mrs. Williams' body," said Sgt. Shiera Campbell with DeKalb County police.

Campbell describes the mood of search crews as optimistic but frustrated.

Last weekend, crews searched a lake in a nearby park. They spent hours searching by foot, on ATV’s and by air without any luck.

“We just want to search it again, because we want to be as thorough as possible,” she said.

Crews will resume the search on Wednesday.
