DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Somebody has stolen part of a DeKalb County neighborhood's Fourth of July celebration. They made off with hundreds of small American flags that were set up along the community's parade route.
A homeowner told Channel 2's Berndt Petersen that he's going to replace every one of the missing flags.
Neighbors are very upset that it happened and hope the culprits are caught.
Kit Eisterhold, with the Druid Hills Civic Association, is a firm believer that Independence Day and the Stars and Stripes go hand in hand. But he said some thieves must not agree.
"I don't know what the motivation is. Not all were taken. These right here are still there. But there's a camera right there. That might have had something to do with it. All the others got taken," Eisterhold said.

Late last week, Eisterhold told Petersen that he spent hours placing around 750 small flags along the route of the annual Fourth of July parade in the Druid Hills neighborhood.
By Monday morning, most of them were missing.
"It's just a fun community patriotic event. For somebody to come and snatch them is really disappointing," neighbor Caroline Moise said.
Neighbors believe home security video caught the culprits on tape. On Sunday at 11:11 p.m. it recorded what appears to be a man and a woman pulling up flags as they go down the sidewalk.
While most of the flags are gone, Petersen found a few tossed in some bushes. Eisterhold plans to buy some more in time for the parade. He hopes they don't disappear.
"Please say something. Call the police. Just help me out here. And if they guy who took the flags is watching this -- please don't take the replacements. OK?" Eisterhold said.
Eisterhold told Petersen that the flags cost about 50 cents each, so it will cost him about $300 to replace the ones that were taken.
He's paying for the flags out of his own pocket.
