Carjacking victim frustrated no arrest has been made despite evidence

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A delivery driver who was carjacked months ago is still looking for justice, and for answers as to why police have not caught his attackers.

The food delivery driver, who asked not to be identified, was lured to the back of East Perimeter Pointe Apartments in Decatur, swarmed by five men and then carjacked at gunpoint.

"I have just not been the same since this incident occurred," the man told Channel 2’s Carl Willis.

The driver told Willis that he recovered his car and evidence that he thought would lead to a quick arrest.

"I found an ID in the car and I also found a Social Security card. To me, that's more than enough evidence," the driver said.

He handed over the evidence in November. Months later, there have been no arrests.

"I'm totally disgusted by that and it's totally unacceptable," the driver told Willis. "Information was placed right in the lap of the police officers."

But according to DeKalb police, detectives have been working on the case steadily. They said the Social Security card belongs to another victim of theft but there was no confirmation on the photo ID.

"They have a picture and they have an address, and I want that person and I won't stop," the driver told Willis.

Police said the suspects used the victim's credit card to buy a pizza, and detectives said they are working that lead but are not getting cooperation from the credit card company.

The victim said every piece of evidence needs to be taken into account and it's urgent that the carjackers be caught.

"They're a danger to me. They're a danger to you. They're a danger to anyone that's out. They are a part of the problem," the victim said.
