Police said one man is dead and two others are in critical condition after a gun battle at a DeKalb County park.

A witness told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot that she had rushed to help once the gunfire stopped.

The incident happened at Cedar Park on Cedar Street in Scottdale.

DeKalb County police swarmed to the scene after they said one man was killed and two of his friends were critically wounded in a gun battle at the park.

It all started when a white SUV pulled up to the park and there was some kind of confrontation.

One woman told Elliot that she had heard the whole thing.

“At first, I heard, like, a couple of gunshots. It was, like, pow, pow, pow. And then, next thing you know, you hear pow, pow, pow, pow and then you hear another pow, pow, pow. So it was, like, shots fired, pause, shots fired. (Then) you just see a vehicle going fast, at a rapid speed, away from the crime scene,” the woman, who asked not to be identified, said.

Police told Elliot the white SUV had sped away and they are now actively looking for the vehicle.

“They believe that the two parties know each other. Right now, detectives are working to identify the party in the other SUV and the investigation is ongoing,” said Capt. Stephen Fore, with the DeKalb County Police Department.

The witness told Elliot she had rushed into the park to help and had seen one man dead, still wearing his hat and sunglasses.

She said she had tried to help the two others, who were critically wounded.

“Then, I see a young lady. She's bleeding everywhere. I'm trying to fix her. Another gentleman, he's lying in the park. I'm assisting him. I did, actually, was able to assist him and talk to him and look to the right, and there's a guy laying over there dead,” the woman said.
