Detective testifies in day care murder trial

DECATUR, Ga.,None - Jurors in the day care murder trial heard from detectives who questioned Hemy Nueman prior to his arrest.

Beginning Monday, the prosecution played Neuman's first interview with police where he repeatedly denies involvement in the shooting death of Rusty Sneiderman. At the end of the video, detectives make it clear to Neuman that he is their main suspect.

Neuman was arrested after the interview.

"Looks like they went and got an arrest warrant for you today on the murder charge. You know, based on what we got, the car and everything else," Neuman was told during the interview.

The day after his initial interview, on January 5, Neuman told detectives he wanted to talk. Lt. David Barnes testified about the conversation he had with Neuman.

"After five and a half hours of questioning on the fourth, on the fifth, he made a statement and the statement was, 'I want to talk. I want to end the circus. There is no reason for anyone else to be hurt,'" the prosecutor asked Barnes.

Barnes said during redirect that Neuman did not confess, and only wanted to talk.

Sneiderman was shot and killed outside a day care after dropping his son off in November 2010.

The first week of the trial focused on Sneiderman's wife, Andrea Sneiderman, who worked for Neuman at GE Energy.

Andrea Sneiderman was called as the prosecution's first witness. She denied having a romantic relationship with Neuman and described finding out about her husband's shooting death at the hospital.

Following her testimony, the prosecution called a string of witnesses to testify about their knowledge of Neuman and Sneiderman's alleged romantic relationship.

Rusty Sneiderman's father testified that his daughter-in-law called him when she was on her way to the day care and told him that his son had been shot. That phone call took place before Andrea Sneiderman went to the hospital.

Neuman has pleaded not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.
