3 killed in I-85 crash in Coweta County; 4 children injured

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have released the names of the people who were killed and injured Friday night when their vehicle crashed on I-85 in Coweta County.

Kayla S. Wilson, 33, Nikia Wilson, 33, and Denyla Biggers, 6, all of Columbus, were ejected when their vehicle hit the concrete median, the Georgia State Patrol said. Kayla Wilson was the driver.

Injured in the crash were DeQuondre Biggers, 15, Kanyus Biggers, 8, Jomari Wilson, 5, and Alexander Crawford, 4, all of Columbus, the GSP said. The injured people were transported to Egleston Hospital in Atlanta.

The accident occurred about 8:12 p.m. at northbound mile marker 56. A 2002 Ford Expedition traveling in the inside lane lost control and struck the median wall, overturning several times.

A teacher who had Denyla in her kindergarten class at Dawson Elementary School. She told me this fatal accident is devastating and everyone who knows this family is going to have a tough time dealing with the loss.
