Cops seek robbers behind deadly ambush in NW Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. — Police are on the lookout for the robbers behind a deadly ambush in northwest Atlanta.

One man was shot and another killed on Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. A third person was also hurt trying to get away.

The third person was helping the club owner renovate the place when two men with guns came out of nowhere.

The man’s father told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore his son jumped over a wall and broke his leg. A Channel 2 Action News crew drove by Club DejaVu overnight and looked over the wall which is about a 30-foot drop.

Police are calling the double shooting an ambush.

The witness said he and his son were helping nightclub owner Amin Bochellin renovate the club when Bochellin realized his car had a dead battery.

That’s when Mike McGee said two men came from nowhere and starting shooting.

“Me and the other guy was hooking the battery cables up and next thing I know, I see my son take off running and I look around and there's two guys standing there shooting,” McGee said.

The nightclub owner died from his injuries and another man was shot in the back. McGee's son broke his leg jumping off over a wall trying to get away.

Police believe robbery was the motive. McGee said he played dead to avoid getting shot.
