CONYERS, Ga. - The Conyers Police Department is enforcing a city curfew for children 16 and under and is citing parents whose kids violate it.

Police issued eight tickets this month.

"We just want to let them know this ordinance does exist," said Officer Kim Lucas.

Parents who are cited can spend six months in jail and be fined up $1,000.

"The parent should know where there kids are," said Rockdale County resident Daisy Smith

The curfew, which was adopted in 2011, is 9:30 p.m. on weeknights and 11:30 p.m. on weekends.

Police told Channel Two Action News the majority of problems involving teenagers are happening at a shopping plaza off Interstate 20 where there have been fights, car break-ins and robberies.
