Conyers man injured in explosion at home

CONYERS — Federal investigators are looking into an explosion that sent a Rockdale County man to the hospital.

Sheriff’s officials told Channel 2 Action News they arrived at Southgate Trail in Conyers just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night and found a man covered in blood and in extreme pain from injuries caused by the explosion.

The man's 7-year-old son told investigators he and his dad fired off bottle rockets outside the home, then returned inside where his dad was handling a torch when it exploded.

Investigators said they found holes in the wall consistent with some type of projectile being shot threw the wall. There was also several small pieces of orange plastic all around the room.

The man was transported to the hospital.
