ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Following the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and several people at a congressional baseball field near Washington, D.C., various congressional leaders are expressing their well-wishes for Scalise and the victims.
The list of congressional leaders includes former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) who served in the eighth district of the United States Congress.
Giffords was one of 18 people shot outside a shopping center in Tucson, Ariz., on Jan. 8, 2011. A gunman opened fire outside the store while the former congresswoman was meeting with some constituents.
The former congresswoman stated that her “heart” is with all of her former colleagues during this shooting.
My heart is with my former colleagues, their families & staff, and the US Capitol Police- public servants and heroes today and every day.
