CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga.,None - Family, friends and people moved by the story of a slain 7-year-old attended the viewing for the child at a Canton funeral home on Friday.

Many who arrived at Darby Funeral home did not even know Joreyls Rivera. Rivera was reported missing from her apartment complex last Friday and her body was found three days later in a Dumpster near her apartment. Police have arrested apartment maintenance man Ryan Brunn and charged him with murder.

"There are no words to make them feel better," said Canton resident Fernando Tirado.

Tirado does not know the Rivera family but planned to attend the viewing because he says the tragedy has touched the entire community.

"I guess showing our support and letting them know that everybody feels really sad about what happened," he told Channel 2's Manuel Bojorquez.

Earlier Friday, the Rivera family canceled a news conference, saying police asked them not to make any more comments because of the ongoing investigation.

The Rivera's have scheduled a public funeral for Jorelys at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist in Canton, and will also have a private service.

The family will then fly to Puerto Rico where they will bury Jorelys on Monday.
