Cold snap to drop temperatures into the 20s

ATLANTA — If you haven’t used your winter jacket yet this season, you will come Friday.

An incoming front will usher in cold, arctic air to all of north Georgia beginning Thursday night, and will last into the weekend.

Thursday evening, the wind will pick up with gusts of up to 20-25 mph. Most areas will stay in the 40s throughout the day. The average high this time of year is 56.

On Friday, metro Atlanta will wake up to temperatures in the mid-20s. For residents in North Georgia, temperatures will be in the low 20s.

Wind chills will make it feel like the teens and single digits in some areas.

It will be the coldest morning since February.

Sunshine will stick around Friday afternoon, but it will remain chilly.

Expect cold air Saturday and through Sunday morning ahead of more mild temperatures next week.

The next chance of rain comes Monday when temperatures will be above freezing.
